Alard School Of Pharmacy

With over 18 years as Head , F&D in Pharma industry, and 18 years as Principal in academia , Dr. Sonia Singh is appointed as the Dean – School of Pharmacy in Alard University Pune. She is also a Professor, PG teacher and PhD Guide. She holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Amravati University and an M. Pharm from Dept. of Pharma Sciences, Nagpur university. Dr. Singh has a rich experience of Formulation development and has scaled up commercial batches of 100+ formulations (tablets, capsules, Liquids, powders & Injectables) for the Domestic as well as Export markets. She is approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Chemical and Instrumental analysis.
She has received Sate level Sitabai Thete award for contributions to society in 2009 and Narishakti award in 2023 by Maitri Welfare Foundation. She has published 25 papers in national / International journals and has received one patent and funding of over Rs. 10Lakh for Research / up gradation/ Equipment from Savitribai Pune University.

ALARD School of Pharmacy, established in 2006 in Pune, is dedicated to developing top pharmacy professionals. The institution offers a range of programs: Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm), and Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) with specializations in Pharmaceutics and Quality Assurance Techniques. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with practical skills across all programs, preparing students for diverse roles in the pharmaceutical field. Lab Facilities

  1. Physical Pharmacy Laboratory

This lab focuses on the formulation, development, and testing of pharmaceutical dosage forms like tablets, capsules, ointments, and syrups. Students learn about drug delivery systems, manufacturing techniques, and quality control procedures to ensure the safety and efficacy of medications.

  1. Pharmaceutical Microbiology Laboratory

The microbiology lab allows students to study microorganisms, their role in health and disease, and their use in pharmaceutical production (e.g., antibiotics, vaccines). Students learn sterile techniques, microbial culture, and methods of preventing contamination.

  1. Pharmacognosy Laboratory

Dedicated to the study of natural drugs derived from plants and other organisms, this lab helps students analyze medicinal plants, extract active constituents, and understand herbal drug formulation. It also promotes research in traditional medicines.

  1. Pharmacology Laboratory

This lab provides students with an understanding of human anatomy and physiological functions. Using models and dissections, students explore the structure and functioning of different organs and systems, crucial for understanding the interaction of drugs in the human body.

  1. Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry Laboratory

It is dedicated to the study and manipulation of organic compounds, which form the basis of most pharmaceutical drugs. This lab focuses on the synthesis, purification, Identification and Characterization and Reaction Mechanism Studies used in medicinal chemistry and drug development.

  1. Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory

This Laboratory is dedicated to the study of inorganic compounds and their applications in pharmaceuticals. This laboratory plays a key role in helping pharmacy students understand the properties, limit test, and analysis of inorganic substances, many of which are used as excipients, catalysts, or therapeutic agents in drug formulations.

  1. Quality Assurance Technique Laboratory-Reseach Lab

It is dedicated to training students in various methods for testing, analyzing, validation and maintaining the quality of pharmaceutical products.

  1. Pharmaceutics-Research Laboratory

Research Laboratory is a critical space designed to foster innovation, experimentation, and development in pharmaceutical sciences. It provides students, researchers, and faculty with the tools and environment needed to conduct advanced research in drug discovery, formulation, and analysis.

  1. Pharmacognosy Laboratory (D.Pharm)

This lab is dedicated to focuses on the study of medicinal plants and natural products. This laboratory plays a crucial role in teaching students about the identification, extraction, and analysis of bioactive compounds from plants, which form the basis of many traditional and modern medicines.

  1. Social Pharmacy laboratory (D.Pharm)

The Social Pharmacy Laboratory is designed to focus on the relationship between pharmacy practice and society. It is a unique facility where students learn about the social, behavioral, and community aspects of healthcare, emphasizing the role of pharmacists in promoting public health and wellness.

  1. Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory (D.Pharm)

This lab is dedicated to explore chemical reactions, drug synthesis, and the analysis of chemical compounds used in pharmaceuticals. The lab is equipped for both organic and inorganic chemistry experiments, helping students understand drug composition and interaction.

  1. Instrument laboratory

The Instrument Laboratory is a specialized facility designed to train students in the use of advanced analytical instruments for ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of pharmaceutical products. This laboratory provides practical exposure to the various instruments and techniques used in the analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pharmaceutical products.

Short Brief About the Program

1. Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm)
This foundational program is designed for students who wish to start their careers in the pharmacy sector. It provides essential knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical sciences, including pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy,social pharmacy and medicinal chemistry. The D.Pharm curriculum equips students with the competencies required to work as pharmacy technicians in hospitals/ health centers, chemists in retail stores or continue their education in higher pharmacy programs.
2. Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm):
The B.Pharm program is a four-year undergraduate course that offers an in-depth understanding of pharmaceutical science and technology. The curriculum covers a wide range of subjects such as pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical analysis. Students also gain hands-on experience through practical sessions, internships, and industrial visits, ensuring they are well-prepared for careers in pharmacy practice, research, or industry.
3. Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm):
Our M.Pharm program is a two year postgraduate course designed for students who wish to specialize in specific areas of Pharmaceutics and Quality Assurance Techniques. The curriculum is research-oriented, encouraging innovation and advanced study. The program emphasizes both academic and practical learning, enabling students to contribute to the development of new drugs, therapies, and healthcare solutions.

Eligibility

  • Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharmacy)- Candidates should have completed Class 12 with Science subjects.
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharmacy) -Candidates should have 40 to 45% in class 12 in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics subjects.
  • Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharmacy) - Candidates should have minimum 50% in Bachelor of Pharmacy.
  • For B.Des. and B.Sc. programs, applicants must have completed 10+2 from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% aggregate.
  • For Diploma programs, candidates must have completed either the 10th or 10+2, depending on the specific diploma’s requirements.
